Pre-K 3/4 - Students will take steps in following classroom directions. They will have experience in working with a wide range of materials. We will follow the curriculum with their homeroom teachers. Kindergarten - Color theory is the key to the steps children will be following. The children will be working with the "WHY's" of art. They have begun to answer all of their own questions and will be making the correct steps towards seeing the overall picture. It's going to be colorful. Celebrate their accomplishments with them. Hang their pictures high. 1st - 3rd -Students are on the path of success. The Art Department works closely with the homeroom teachers, following the curriculum which is on going in the classroom. Subjects such as Science, Math and Religion is used together with Art. The outcome showing both talent and studies. The children are demonstrating what they have learned and putting it to a visual piece. 4th - 5th Techniques will be demonstrated in most of the children's pieces. They explore new ways of showing what they would like to express. Vocabulary still playing a large part in our daily work. Multicultural is a large focus, once their studies take them around the world. We will also be doing a series of Recycled Art. The focus is to show the children that it isn't necessary to purchase all items in order to create. Nature is our number one source, and the everyday items are there for the taking. 6th - 8th This year we have a new set up, Electives. We will be moving at a slower pace, taking time to discover why things are done and making sure they are done properly. With more class time added, students will be able to continue to focus on such tasks and work on gaining the ability to master those tasks. We will be doing such electives as Mask Making, Film, 3-d Art Form, Drawing, Clay and much more. One of the main goals in place, is that the children, from 3 years right on up, have the vocabulary necessary to become independent young artists. With the graduating classes, we will still be doing the items that have now become an awaited feature. Support the Arts, ask your children what they learned in Art Class. Ask them to show you their work. Show them you're proud, and HANG IT UP! THANKS |
