The
school library is available to all students during regular school
hours. Classes are scheduled for regular library times throughout
the week.
Three-year-olds, Pre-K,
and Kindergarteners participate in a story time each week when they visit
the library. The story time includes finger plays, flannel board stories,
songs, student participation stories, and a craft/coloring sheet, along
with books.
First
and Second Graders participate in an age-appropriate story time each week
and then check-out books.
Third
through Fifth graders are learning library skills and also check-out books
each week. They will learn the parts of a book, the Dewey Decimal
System, how to look up and find books in the library using the online
catalog, how to use a variety of reference materials, and about different genres
of literature.
The
6th-8th graders also have scheduled times to come and check out books as
they need them during their English class.
All
library books are due one week from the day they are checked-out from the
library. If the student is not finished reading the book, they need to
renew it in the library on the day it is due. Overdue fines are $.05 per
day. The students are responsible for the books they check-out, if
the book is lost they must pay to replace it.
