News of the MONTH

                                                                JUNE

Well, it's over.  We had a great year.

I am happy to say that all 24 of the children are reading.  They have all read eight pre-primer books and have received their prize from me. Please look for a big white envelope that I will be sending home Wednesday of next week.  Glued to the outside of the envelope will be the directions for the kindergarten summer reading program.  If you keep your child reading over the summer they will have an easier transition in first grade.

Every child in the class can say all of their prayers, can attend Mass, sound and blend 216 words, read on a pre-primer reading level or higher, add and subtract using counting sticks, and have learned to say 159 words in Spanish.  It's been a great year.

Our last week of school we will be enjoying a couple of "really fun things."  On Tuesday our room mothers have made arrangements for a picnic at Taylor Park.  We will walk to the park and walk back.  It will be a free dress day.

On Thursday we will enjoy a sprinkler party right in the grass on the south side of our building. I bought a slip and slide, a water ring, a couple of wadding pools and a sprinkler for the children to enjoy on this day.  Please send a bathing suit and a towel with your child on Thursday.

Your children are wonderful, so enjoy your summer with them and wish all of them a great first grade year and beyond.
