Language Arts To teach the children to:

1. Identify upper/lower case letters

2. begin letter formation on unlined surfaces

3. write their names, using upper and lower case letters

4. listen to a variety of literature

5. listen and follow simple two-step directions

To teach the children to:

1. hear initial consonant sounds

2. hear long and short vowel sounds

3. reproduce long and short vowel sounds

4. form letters on lined paper

To teach children to:

1. blend consonants and long and short vowel sounds to decode words

2. use decoded words to read sentences

3. to self-select books to read

4. use the writing process; planning a story, editing a story and publishing finished work

To teach children to:

1. use decoding to spell words

2. read sentences from left to right

3. develop a writing goal

4. share written work

5. draw conclusions from what is read

6. make comparisons between characters and settings

Math To teach children:

1. Number recognition and number formation from 0-9.

2. Identify and make plane figures.

3.  Name the days of the week and the months of the year.

4.  Sort and classify using positions, left, right, shape, size and kind.

5. Read, copy, predict and extend patterns.

6. Use one-to-one correspondence.

7. Describe a relative position on a number line..

To teach the children to:

1. Use concrete materials to show numbers 6-10.

2. Read and write numbers 0-10.

3. Sort solid and plane figures.

4. Be able to identify symmetry and equal parts and make a model using both.

5. Use concrete materials to show numbers 11-30..

6. Be able to move forward and backward on a number line.

To teach children to:

1. Count orally using a hundred chart.

2.  Skip count by 2's, 5's, and 10's.

3.  Identify even, odd, and ordinal numbers.

4. Identify pennies,  nickels, dimes, and quarters and assign the values to the coins.

5. Identify pictures showing the time of the day: morning, afternoon, evening.

6. Use an analog clack to tell time to the hour and half hour.

7.  Compare capacity and weight.

To teach children to:

1. Make and read a concrete, tally, and picture graph.

2. Use mathematical signs (+), (-), and (=).

3. Use pictures and counting sticks to add.

4. Use pictures and counting sticks to subtract.

5. Identify numbers by family from 1-100.


Science To teach children to:

1. recognize that animals have various kinds of similarities and differences

2. observe and sort animals by one attribute at a time

3. recognize that animals grow, change and have basic needs

4. recognize ways in which animals move

To teach the children to:

1. identify trees, grass, vines, and flowers as plants

2. observe and describe similarities and differences between plants

3. recognize that roots, stems, leaves, and flowers are some parts of plants

4. recognize that seeds sprout and grow into plants

To teach children to:

1. Recognize kinds of weather

2. Recognize weather tools

3. Recognize that changes in weather occur over seasons

4. Identify the seasons of the year

To teach the children to:

1. observe and describe common objects and their properties by using the five senses

2. describe and compare objects in terms of properties such as shape and texture

3. shape common objects by one attribute

4. sort objects by how they can be moved

Social Studies To teach children to:

1. understand directions: up, down, left, right

2. understand that a globe is a representation of the world

3. orally recite the Pledge of Allegiance

4. become aware of typical American symbols, such as the flag

To teach children to:

1. develop an awareness of holidays and special days such as: Thanksgiving; Martin Luther King Day, and President's Day

2. identify communities and community workers such as policemen or firemen

3. develop their own personal history

To teach children to:

1. give examples of passages of time

2. develop an awareness of various seasonal and holiday traditions

To teach children to:

1. correlate historical leaders to history

2. become aware of different cultures

Religion To teach children that:

1. God gives us life.

2. God made and loves us.

3. We have gifts of senses and feelings.

4. God wants us to love others.

To teach children that:

1. God made all things.

2. God wants us to care for the world.

To teach children that:

1. Mary is the Mother of God and our Mother too.

2. Jesus, Mary and Joseph are the Holy Family.

3. Jesus is our friend and teacher.

To teach children that:

1. We belong to God's family

2. God's family helps and cares for one another

3. Jesus is with us always.
