Our Philosophy and Requirements
St. Mary Catholic School believes that participation in sports and extracurricular activities fosters the development of mature, well-rounded individuals. Therefore, we proudly participate in the Catholic Youth Sports (CYS) league.
We welcome all eligible students to participate in our sports teams and extracurricular activities and strive to provide every student with an equal opportunity to be involved. Parents are encouraged to help their children understand that selection for certain teams is competitive and cannot be guaranteed.
To take part in extracurricular activities, students are generally required to maintain at least a C- (2.0) cumulative average and exhibit satisfactory behavior. Students who do not achieve a cumulative 2.0 GPA by the Interim Report will be placed on Academic Probation and will be ineligible to participate in extracurricular activities until they regain eligibility. Those failing to meet these standards at the time of the report card will remain ineligible until the next Interim Report. Additionally, any student receiving a grade below “S” on an interim report or a report card will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities.
The administration reserves the right to make exceptions for students with documented learning disabilities who are performing to the best of their ability while maintaining approximately a C average, or in other exceptional circumstances as determined by the school administration.
Extracurricular activities encompass clubs, plays, meetings, athletic practices and games, contests, or any official event of St. Mary Catholic School. Students must attend all classes on the day of an activity to be eligible to participate.
For after-school activities on the St. Mary Catholic School campus from Monday to Friday, any student not picked up on time will be placed in the after-school care program, and the parents will be billed accordingly.
Please note: Students who are absent from school on a given day are not eligible to participate in extracurricular activities or official school functions on that day. This includes all forms of activities such as clubs, plays, meetings, athletic practices, contests, or any sanctioned event by St. Mary Catholic School. Attendance in all classes is required for participation.
